Looking for Your Next Career Move?

Guidance on career switching is incongruent and can be misleading depending on whom you ask. Today's market is ephemeral meaning that professional anecdotes from your mother or even mentor can be outdated. So where does a young professional turn for advice? A Harvard Business Review article notes: "experts have described the current labor market as “candidate-driven.” Job seekers hold more power than employers, a trend that seems to be deepening." Although the statement is bold, some precautions need be taken so that when you do land a new job, it's one in-line with your career aspirations. Remember: make a good impression at your current employer, be open about your aspirations, stay as long as it makes sense, and if you need a gap in employment: fill it by "gain[ing] a new skill, hav[ing] a life-changing experience, or learn[ing] something new." Moral of the story: go towards the choice that brings you the most joy.
